For those who are interested in healthcare, wellness, or medical topics, For those who are looking to build community and meaningful connections

Urban Healthcare and Bioethics Interest Group (UHBiG) is a student organization at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine dedicated to exploring ethical issues in urban health and healthcare delivery, with a particular focus on North Philadelphia. As medical students working in an urban setting, we recognize the importance of understanding the historical and current bioethical challenges faced by our community, including structural inequities, access to care, and social determinants of health. UHBiG provides a forum for discussion, reflection, and education through case-based conversations, speaker events, and collaborations with the Center for Bioethics, Urban Health, and Policy. We also aim to foster community outreach opportunities that strengthen our relationships with the North Philadelphia community and promote more just and compassionate healthcare. Membership is open to all LKSOM students and does not require dues. Students, faculty, and staff from outside LKSOM who are interested in urban bioethics are encouraged to contact the Center for Bioethics, Urban Health, and Policy at cbuhp@temple.edu to be added to the Friends of the Center listserv and learn about public events.

As an international student from India, I had no credit and no Social Security Number. Rentaba gave me a real way to start building credit in the U.S. early—and now my rental history is actually mine. I wish I had this my first year.
