Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® is the first Greek-letter organization established by and for African American college-educated women. The Distinguished and Marvelous Delta Mu Chapter was chartered at Temple University on November 5, 1955, by sixteen visionary sisters, continuing a legacy that began with the historic Mu Chapter in 1922 and the Gamma Epsilon Chapter in 1945. Guided by the motto “Service to All Mankind,” Delta Mu is committed to cultivating high scholastic and ethical standards, promoting unity and friendship among college women, and addressing issues affecting girls and women to enhance their social stature. Members maintain a progressive interest in college life and actively serve the Temple and Philadelphia communities through innovative programs, leadership development, and civic engagement.
