Can PayPal send money to Venmo?

 

No, you cannot send money directly from PayPal to someone’s Venmo account. The two apps are owned by the same company but they don’t let users transfer money between them with a simple “Send” button.

If you already meet every requirement, the only real path is this: move the money through a bank account that both PayPal and Venmo recognize. There is no faster or hidden method.

 

How to move money from PayPal to Venmo

 

The process is basically about using the bank as the middle step. Here’s the practical version:

  • Link the same bank account to both apps. PayPal needs a checking account or debit card in your name. Venmo needs the same. This creates the bridge.
  • Transfer money from PayPal to your bank. Standard transfers take 1–3 business days and are usually free. Instant transfers to a debit card cost a small fee.
  • Once the money appears in the bank, add it to Venmo. Venmo can pull funds from that same account, usually instantly if debit-based or next business day if ACH-based.

 

If you already meet all requirements

 

  • There is no extra shortcut. Even with a verified PayPal, verified Venmo, SSN added, and a U.S. phone number, the platforms still don’t support direct sending.
  • Make sure the bank is fully verified on both apps. PayPal sometimes requires micro-deposit verification or online login verification. Venmo often prefers online login verification because it fails less.
  • Use the same legal name on both accounts. If your name appears differently (middle name, hyphen, international character), bank verification may fail.
  • Avoid using a VPN during transfers. Both PayPal and Venmo can flag unusual locations and temporarily freeze transfers.

 

Extra clarity and small warnings

 

  • You cannot receive PayPal money into your Venmo username or QR code.
  • You cannot “search” a Venmo user inside PayPal.
  • No workaround using email linking exists. The systems stay separate even if the email is the same.
  • If an account is new, large transfers may be held. This is normal; both apps ease limits after consistent use.

Once both apps trust your bank account, moving money simply becomes a two-step process: PayPal → Bank → Venmo. Slow the first time, easy afterward.
