Which banks support Zelle

Banks that support Zelle — quick list

Most major U.S. banks and many regional banks and credit unions support Zelle inside their mobile apps or online banking. Examples: Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citi, Capital One, PNC, U.S. Bank, Truist, TD Bank, Fifth Third, Regions, Ally, Navy Federal and thousands of community banks/credit unions. If a bank is a Zelle partner, Zelle appears inside the bank’s app or website.

How and why it works — step‑by‑step, plus key terms and pitfalls

  • How to check support: Open the bank app or website and look for “Zelle.” If not there, search the bank’s help pages for “Zelle.”
  • Enroll via your bank app (recommended): In the app, tap Zelle, register an email or U.S. mobile phone number, confirm the number/email with a code, and link a checking account. “Enroll” means the bank records which contact is tied to that account.
  • Use the Zelle standalone app (if bank not partnered): Download Zelle app, register with a U.S. mobile number and a Visa/Mastercard debit card tied to a U.S. bank account. Not all debit cards qualify.
  • Transfers: Money moves between participating banks typically within minutes. Non‑partner-to-partner transfers may require the standalone app and can take longer.
  • Limits & verification: Banks set daily/monthly limits and may require ID or extra checks for new users. “Hold” or “flag” can occur for large or unusual transfers.
  • Fees and safety: Zelle itself doesn’t charge consumer fees; banks may. Zelle is for people who trust the recipient—payments are hard to reverse. Beware of impersonation scams and never send to strangers for goods/services without protections.
  • If stuck: Contact the bank’s support, provide last 4 of account, and ask if Zelle is enabled and what their limits and verification steps are.
