Cash App transfers are usually instant between users who already have verified accounts and meet all requirements. In most normal cases, the money shows up in the other person’s Cash App balance within seconds. However, sending money to a linked bank account or card can take longer depending on which option is selected.
When transfers are instant
When both people have active Cash App accounts that are verified with their legal names, dates of birth, and (for U.S. users) Social Security Numbers or ITINs, the transaction is processed on Cash App’s internal network. That means:
- Between Cash App users: Usually instant, 24/7, even on weekends or holidays.
- Sending or receiving to/from another Cash App balance: The funds appear almost immediately; there is no "pending" stage.
- No fee for normal instant transfers between users.
When it can take longer
- Transferring to your bank account: Cash App gives two choices when “cashing out.” The Instant Deposit option sends to a debit card in minutes, but has a small fee (about 0.5–1.75% of the amount, minimum $0.25). The Standard Deposit option is free but can take 1–3 business days to reach a bank account.
- Verification hold: If your account is new, unverified, or your payment comes from an unusual location or device (often happens if a VPN is on), Cash App may review it. Reviews can last a few hours to a couple of days. You’ll usually see “pending” until that’s done.
- Bank processing delays: Some smaller or international banks might post deposits slower, which can extend timing past the expected window.
If you already meet all requirements
When your profile is fully verified, you’re in the U.S., and your payment network (bank card or account) is in your name, peer-to-peer Cash App transfers take seconds and are fully settled once both sides see “Completed.” Standard bank deposits usually clear next day if initiated early, and Instant Deposits land within minutes. If a payment ever stays pending over 24 hours, contact Cash App support directly from the app — it may be a security check, not a failure.
In short: expect instant for in‑app transfers, minutes for instant bank deposits, and up to three business days for standard ones.
